herdProtect Anti-Malware Scanner

No security solution is infallible. Even if your PC is protected by an antivirus program, it may still get infected. That is because malware can sometimes bypass security solutions. That is why you need a second line of defense. And this is where herdProtect comes in. It scans your PC and tells you if it is infected. 68 antimalware engines are used by the application to uncover malware, spyware, and adware.

herdProtect will work with a PC powered by a 32 or 64-bit version of Windows 8, 7, Vista, or XP. Getting the application up and running is a simple matter: download an installer (close to 2MB in size), run it, go through the instructions presented by a setup wizard.

Launch herdProtect and the following information will be displayed on its interface: the last time you scanned your PC, the security solution that is currently protecting your PC, what herdProtect will do when you launch a scan.

To do so, launch a scan I mean, you need only click the large green Scan button. While herdProtect is scanning your machine, it will look for malware, spyware, and adware. Please note that herdProtect will not remove any malware it detects. But it will provide info on how to remove these threats from your PC.

herdProtect is free software. At the time of writing this, the application is in Beta. The developer explained that in the future herdProtect would be able to remove malware and offer real-time protection against malware.
